That it’s easier for you to get an email address from a person than a phone number?

I’m an insurance agent by profession, and part of my job is to do cold-calling, or finding new prospects to speak to. There are many ways to do this, but since I’m neither attractive or particularly appealing, I had to get creative with the way I get information from strangers.

Of course, plenty of experienced agents told me to get their phone numbers, and then call them to set an appointment to meet. But since I’ve had some experience in Internet Marketing, I decided to try a different method.

I printed a page stating “FREE EBOOK for those who complete my survey and provide an email address!”

Naturally people would get suspicious about people offering free gifts, but hey, email addresses are hardly intrusive. Why not just provide your email address for something free?

I’ve read an article a long time ago stating that if you wanna increase your chances of  getting contact information from a babe in a bar, you should ask for her email address. Again, because it’s less intrusive and if she doesn’t wanna see you again, she just needs to place you in her spam filters!

The relation to Internet Marketing? I guess I’m grateful for the new tactics I’ve learned and I’m glad I found a place for them in the offline world.
